Hi! Thanks for dropping by my online portfolio of published writings.
I'm a full-time freelance journalist, based in Manhattan, and I cover mostly travel and food topics for outlets like AFAR, Food Republic, Fodor's, Travel + Leisure, New York Magazine, Saveur, Food & Wine, and others. In the past, I've been on staff at New York Magazine (where I was an editor at the restaurant blog Grub Street, which won a James Beard Award during my time there) and Time Out New York. I don't have any fiction manuscripts stashed in a drawer, but I do someday hope to write a book; maybe a travel memoir. In the last year or so, I've also started doing video production for Zagat, mostly for short food documentaries. I'm really enjoying it!
I have a B.A. in American Studies from Stanford University. I also speak pretty fluent Spanish and okay French. I take a lot of my own photos for stories, so I guess I've gotten to be a decent photographer.
When I'm not jetting off somewhere exotic (Myanmar and Bosnia have been favorites), I love to stick around New York for cooking, conversation, and hanging out with other people's dogs. Oh, and I'm pretty obsessed with sauna rituals worldwide, exotic textiles, and super spicy food.
